Expensive allowance to be paid soon: Cabinet approves 4% increase in allowance from July 1

The three installments of the allowance will be paid in such a short period of time

New Delhi: The Center has decided to pay the three installments of DA and DR of government employees and pensioners, which were withheld during the Koro period.

The Union Finance Ministry on Tuesday assured that the three installments of withheld allowances for central employees and pensioners would be repaid in the shortest possible time. He also said that the allowance would be paid with effect from July 1, 2021.

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur said that the central government had saved Rs 37,430.08 crore from the inflation allowance withheld during the Koro crisis. Which was used in the fight against the Corona epidemic. He said that the installments of 1 January 2020, 1 July 2020 and 1 January 2021 were withheld from the dearness allowance of central employees and dearness relief allowance of pensioners. At present, government employees are paid 17 per cent inflation allowance and the Modi cabinet had approved an increase of 4 per cent. This will increase the inflation allowance to 21 per cent, effective from July 1, 2021.
